back from Paris

Thu Nov 19, 2009, 7:06 AM
I just returned from my honeymoon in Paris. Luckily I have a new bride that is even more artistically alert than I am. We saw the obvious sites such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. However, the true excitement for the city was the unparalleled wonder of their many museums.

Obviously the Louvre was stunning; hallway after hallway of jaw dropping beauty. The Rodin Museum was also impressive. An amazing estate and garden filled with many of the works of the master sculptor. However, my absolute favorite place was Musee d'Orsay. It houses some of the most stunning work created in the past 140 years. Gerome. Ensor, Lautrec, Monet, Van Gogh, Mucha, Renoir etc.

Although living in NY I am surrounded by many institutions of art, Paris breathes art. There is no other place in the world that has made such an impression on me. We were both sad to leave.
